TRIBU-CR: Current Status of Implementation

TRIBU-CR, Costa Rica’s new tax system, may now face a delay in its rollout, which was initially set for August 4, 2025.

Due to a provisional injunction issued by the Administrative Litigation Court, the existing platforms ATV, TRAVI, SIC, and DECLARAweb remain active and fully operational. As a result, the planned shutdown originally scheduled for July 18, 2025, did not take place.

What does this temporary delay mean for your business?

  • The Tax Status Inquiry service remains available on the Ministry of Finance’s website.
  • There will be no penalties for not using TRIBU-CR during this phase; however, fines may still apply for filing errors or non-compliance.
  • This is an excellent window to review and update your tax obligations proactively.
  • New user registrations and filings through TRIBU-CR will begin once a revised launch date is confirmed.
